Ball Joint Installer Set CH-49240-A

Currently the aluminum lower control arms must be replaced in order to service the lower ball joint. The cast iron ball joint replacement requires seating of the ball joint while swaging the lower rim in order to lock into the control arm. CH-49240-A is used with J-41805 (Installer, Ball Joint) to remove and install the ball joint on both cast iron and aluminum control arms, and to swage the ball joint into position. Once the technician removes the existing swage marks, the ball joint is driven out using the supplied adapter and J-41805. The new ball joint is installed using the adapter, and seated into J-41805 while the swage adapter seats and swages the ball joint. A short forcing screw for J-41805 is provided for clearance so the repairs can now be done on vehicle vs. on the bench.
