But quickly identifying the cause of a vibration and finding its location can be a difficult task, even for the most experienced technician. Traditional diagnostic methods require the technician to determine the frequency of the vibration (Hertz) during a road test, and then to figure out which component was rotating at the RPM necessary to cause the frequency observed. This requires directly measuring the dimensions of various components, and/or looking up dimensions in specification charts and applying mathematical calculations to arrive at a conclusion.
