I wanted a compete OEM timing kit for my ‘04 F-150 5.4 3v and after searching parts retailers, Amazon and eBay, this appeared to be the most complete kit. It has all updated OE timing components and also the HV Melling oil pump. The valve cover gaskets are not included but the website prompts you to add them upon checkout. My mechanic told me this was the best kit he has seen. It has everything needed.

I did also replace the roller followers while the valve covers were off and they sell those in a set of 24. Overall, I would highly recommend this kit. (Posted on 11/15/2023)

All the parts arrived new and in good condition. Unfortunately my camshaft caps were a little more worn then expected. Lots of varnish and sludge deposits on engine but went ahead with timing job anyways.

The results where good with cold engine and 5w30 oil, once it warmed up the oil pressure got to low even with new oil pump and cam phasers would not engage pin at idle after a load was applied to engine, power was low when driving as well.

I just inspected roller followers and lifters when i had them out for inspection, all seem good so i didnt replace them with updated roller followers which may of helped oil pressure. I also removed oil pan and cleaned pick up tube and screen when doing the timing.

So I removed 1 quart of engine oil and added 1 quart of lucas oil stabilizer. Now it runs great with no more annoying check engine lights and diesel sound at idle, and power is back when cruising down the highway. It may not be the best idea but worked for me. Now to see how long it lasts like this.

Also, remember to check crankshaft endplay before ordering parts. I checked it as an afterthought, but got lucky.

Bought my son an 05 ford 5.4 3 valve f150. Had the dreaded codes of VCT phaser so decided to tackle the job. All parts were included in this kit and if you have it tore apart might as well replace everything. All parts were oem and packaging was great. Everything you need to get the truck purring again. Truck runs and idols way cleaner than it did before. Hopefully I don’t have to buy this kit again but if I do I will order from freedom racing!! (Posted on 5/3/2022)
