This will be my second timing job on an a 5.4 3v. Not sure why this job gets a bad rap. Half of it is just unplugging wires and dropping tools. So when my friend limped his over I was happy to do it again --already had all the specialty tools anyway. All the parts are either in a Ford box or have a Ford part number. They even throw in instructions. What a novel idea! And along with the instructions was a note with a cautionary tale about VCT solenoids that described how the oil flows from the driver side head to the passenger. Did not know that. Kind of felt like a care package from my online mechanic dad. Pretty cool thanks, Dad. Quick shipping is not a joke. It was sitting on my porch less than 24 hrs after I ordered. Price is similar to anything else I've found (at the moment --can be found cheaper every now and then on Amazon, less the Melling oil pump). For the love of all things holy do not buy the $289 kit unless you want to do it again. Highly recommend ...looking forward to getting 'er back on the road!

15 year old truck needed new timing chains and oil pump. Decided better replace the valve cover gaskets as well. All the parts were there fit was perfect. Primed oil pump and it started right up no leaks. Another 10-15 lbs of oil pressure at hot idle. 190K miles good for another ? Thank you for the easy kit. (Posted on 6/3/2020)

This is the best timing kit I found for the 5.4 3V engine. Not only does it include all OEM parts (except oil pump), it includes the highly recommended Melling high volume oil pump. I had some questions before I placed my order and immediately got assistance. Parts arrived one day sooner than I was told on the phone. Absolutely every part you need is included in this kit. If you're looking for a "one and done" kit, this is the one to get. I hope I don't have to do this job again, but if I do, you bet I'll buy this kit again. This is by far the most complete kit that money can buy. Each of the parts came individually packaged and were labeled in Ford packaging/bags. I have used the Ford OEM 5.4 3v cam phasers,timing chain, upgraded oil pump kit from Freedom Racing on two different f150's. The first had 245,000 miles. The second 175,000 miles. Both run perfectly, no noises and all the power back. The repairs are difficult but I take time to double check everything. Buy quality and do it right the first time. (Posted on 2/19/2020)
