The pinion must be positioned very precisely in relation to the ring gear for optimum performance and durability. When the pinion shim thickness is being determined, the gauging components must be centered in the pinion bearings. J-21777-8 is used to center the gauging components in the inner pinion bearing on 9.5" rear axles, and to ensure all components are aligned.
